Behind Every Stitch — The Making of Kadhai
1. Gathering the Materials
🧵 From unbleached cotton to jute and silk threads, every piece starts with locally sourced, sustainable fabrics and raw materials chosen by the artisans themselves.
2. Sketching the Pattern
✍️ Designs are first outlined using traditional chalking techniques or freehand, passed down through generations of women artisans.
3. Embroidery Begins
🪡 Using techniques like satin stitch, herringbone, and phulkari, the fabric slowly transforms — one vibrant thread at a time. This stage alone can take hours or even days.
4. Group Collaboration
🤝 Some pieces are passed from one artisan to another — with each woman adding her own detail, just like a community quilt.
5. Stitch by Stitch, Story by Story
