Meet the founder
Hi! I’m Jasmeh Singh — a proud Sikh, a lover of travel and the outdoors, and the founder of Kadhai, a youth-led social enterprise that empowers rural Punjabi artisans by bringing their handcrafted work to the world.

This project began with a moment that stayed with me. On a trip to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, I came across women selling intricately hand-embroidered phulkari pieces just outside the temple walls. I was mesmerized by the detail, the color, the patience in every stitch — but what struck me most was how little value they were getting in return for such beautiful craftsmanship. People haggled. The work was treated as decoration, not as a legacy.

As a Sikh, seva — selfless service — is central to my identity. It’s something I’ve lived through daily acts, from cleaning dishes at the Gurdwara to volunteering at local kitchens. But that moment in Amritsar showed me that my seva could take a new form: uplifting these women by honoring their work and making sure their stories are heard.

That’s how Kadhai was born.

Kadhai is more than just a shop. It’s a platform for women’s empowerment, offering free sewing, embroidery, and design training to women in rural Punjab. It’s a way for them to become financially independent and regain control over their own futures. We follow a fair trade model — no middlemen, artisan-led pricing, and full transparency.
Every product we sell carries a story — not just of art and tradition, but of courage, community, and culture.
This project blends everything I love: heritage, storytelling, travel, nature, and purpose. It’s my way of stitching the threads between my identity, my values, and a mission that matters.
